Mali was born September 17, 2004. Africka and I are extremely happy, and all is well in our world. We have moved to our
new home where Mali and Beamer (our dog) each have thier own room.
We send thanks and praises to everyone, near and far, who have sent us love, prayers, cards, and gifts.
Mali was scheduled to be born on September 27 with a due date of September 28 because she was in breech position, but she
planned otherwise. The funny story about it all is this... Africka thought she either had food poisioning or an upset stomach
because we ate Chinese food on September 16, 2004. For some wierd reason she craved and woofed down my boneless ribs (she
never eats pork). So, all night she complained about how eating the pork upset her stomach. The morning of September 17th
at about 7:00 a.m., enough was enough, Africka called her OB to tell him that she had eaten some bad Chinese food and wanted
her stomach pumped. The doctor told her she was experienceing labor...well Africka being Africka disagreed with the diagnosis
because she knew she scheduled a C-Section for September 27, 2004 and that was when she was ready to have the baby. She told
the doctor that it had to be food poisioning because she had not experienced any of the normal symptoms of labor, like contractions
or pain in her back. She convinced him that it was food poisoining and he wanted us to meet him at the hospital to get a better
diagnosis. Although she wasn't feeling to good, Africka took her time with getting ready for the hospital....shower, make-up,
hair, and just the right outfit and shoes. All the while declaring her motto: "Diva to the end!", just in case she
was in labor. We arrived at the hospital at about 8:15 a.m. I went to get a wheelchair for my wife, but instead she left
my car running and made her way to the maternity ward! Africka had actually spent the night going through labor and didn't
even know it! The doctor told her she was 9cm dialated and the baby was ready to be born because of the breech positioning;
hence, an Emergency C-Section to bring life to our beautiful daughter Mali who was born at 9:09 a.m.
God has sent another angel to watch over me! I LOVE AFRICKA and MALI! I know they LOVE ME!
